I'm Tiffany Beal, a custom artist based in Piedmont, Alabama, working primarily in acrylic, airbrush, and graphite. My Sweet Escape is what I named my business because that's what art has always been to me. The place I get to disappear into and come back out of with something to show for it.
I grew up here in Piedmont, and I still live and work here. The town's been good to me. A lot of my favorite projects have been within a 20-minute drive. Murals on storefronts down the road, window paintings for businesses I shop at, custom helmets for kids whose parents I went to school with. There's something about painting in your own town that feels different. It's not just a job, it's the place.
I do way more outside of Piedmont than in it. I've done murals and custom pieces for clients across Alabama, and I ship artwork all over the world.
I work mostly in three mediums: acrylic for murals and most custom pieces, airbrush for helmets, sports balls, and anything that needs that smooth gradient look, and graphite for portraits when somebody wants something quieter and more personal. They each have their own pace. Murals are loud and physical. Airbrushing is precise and meditative. Graphite lets me slow all the way down.
I'm getting ready for what's going to be my biggest mural yet, right here in Piedmont. F&M Bank is paying for it, and it'll go on the side of an antique building near downtown. I'll post it the second it's finished.
If you're thinking about a project of any kind, I'd love to hear about it. Wall, wood, helmet, Bible, jeans, anything. The more random the surface, the better. Tell me what you're imagining →
A lot of artists stay close to home. I love home, but I love a good adventure too. Here's a sample of where my work has ended up.
